Dr. Adriana Decker named Assistant Chief of Family Medicine

Dr. Adriana Decker has been appointed Assistant Chief of Family Medicine for CIUSSS West-Central Montreal and will retain her duties as the JGH’s Director of In-Patient Family Medicine Services.

In her new role, Dr. Decker says she hopes to expand the visibility and impact of family medicine throughout the hospital, to maintain a whole-person approach to care, and to offer an enriching rotation for trainees.

Dr. Decker has been at the JGH—in in-patient and out-patient settings—since 2012, when she completed her residency in family medicine at the Goldman Herzl Family Practice Centre.

Previously, in South America, she worked with Doctors Without Borders and the Pan-American Health Organization in public health and epidemic surveillance.

Dr. Decker will continue to work at Herzl, at Donald Berman Jewish Eldercare, and on rotation at the JGH in various family medicine and in-patient services. As well, she will carry on as Family Medicine’s representative in the Emergency Department as a member of the flow coordination team.

Also in the Department of Family Medicine:

  • Dr. Jean Zigby has been named Director of the Division of Supportive and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Zigby, a family and palliative care physician, has practiced in hospital, clinic, obstetrical, rural and home environments for over 20 years.
  • Dr. Helen Mavromichalis has been appointed Lead of the Family Medicine-Obstetrics Service. Dr. Mavromichalis has 15 years’ experience as a family medicine accoucheur at the JGH, and currently works at the GMF Côte-des-Neiges.
