Dr. April Rose joins Division of Medical Oncology

Effective July 1, Dr. April Rose will take up her appointment at the JGH as Attending Staff in the Department of Medicine (Division of Medical Oncology) and in the Segal Cancer Centre.

She will also serve as an Assistant Professor at McGill University in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Oncology.

Dr. Rose earned her medical degree at McGill University and completed the Medical Oncology residency program at the University of Toronto. This was followed by a Ph.D. at McGill on the role of the GPNMB protein in the progression of breast tumours. Her research has led to the clinical development of GPNMB-targeted therapies for cancer patients.

Dr. Rose has just won a chercheur-boursier salary award from the FRQS and is establishing her research lab as a Principal Investigator at the Lady Davis Institute.

She also has clinical interests in melanoma and genitourinary cancers. Her research interests are in molecular and translational oncology, as well as in the development of novel immunogenomic therapies for treatment-resistant cancers.

Dr. Rose will have clinical duties at the JGH, where she will be involved in teaching students, as well as supervising medical residents and fellows. She will continue to advance her research in cancer treatments.
