Dr. Jennifer Friedmann appointed Chief of the Division of Medical Oncology

Dr. Jennifer Friedmann has been named Chief of the Division of Medical Oncology at the JGH, replacing Dr. Gerald Batist who had held the position since 2015.

Dr. Friedmann, a full-time Assistant Professor at McGill University, has been a member of the Medical Oncology team since 2017. She has advanced clinical innovation through her leadership of the Immunotherapy Tumour Board and her contributions to the Breast and Pulmonary Oncology Tumour Boards.

She has also led key institutional bodies, including the Chemotherapy Prioritization Committee and the Oncology Coordination of Care Committee. With an active academic portfolio and as Principal Investigator on more than 50 clinical trials, Dr. Friedmann brings a strong vision for excellence in clinical care, research, education and precision oncology.

In a message to staff, Dr. Vicki Tagalakis, Physician-in-Chief of the Department of Medicine, said Dr. Batist will continue to serve as Director of the Segal Cancer Centre at the JGH and as Director of the McGill Centre for Translational Research in Cancer at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research.

“We are grateful to Dr. Batist for his dedicated leadership as Chief over the past 10 years,” Dr. Tagalakis stated.” His mentorship and commitment have strengthened the Division and fostered a culture of collegiality, excellence, and growth.
