The presentation was made on October 23 at McGill to Dr. Gordon, who remains active in the JGH Division of Colorectal Surgery, and also serves at McGill as Professor of Surgery and Oncology, and as Director of Colon and Rectal Surgery.

This is the latest of many awards and leadership roles for Dr. Gordon, who was the Founding President of the Canadian Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and co-author of a comprehensive textbook that is considered the authoritative reference work on colorectal surgery.

Dr. Gordon is also the only non-American to have served as President of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (which named him a Master in Colorectal Surgery) and as President of the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
