Eight is great for cyclists in anti-cancer ride
Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer raises $4.4 million
Despite pouring rain and cool weather, a determined legion of 1,222 cyclists powered their way from Montreal to Quebec City on July 9 and 10 to raise a remarkable $4.4 million in the eighth annual Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer.
Proceeds from the trek will support cancer research, treatment and prevention at the JGH and at partner institutions throughout Quebec. By the end of the journey of more than 200 kilometres, the determined participants had pushed the Ride’s eight-fyear total to more than $45 million.
The event also typified the partnerships that the JGH has developed with healthcare institutions across the province, with proceeds supporting not just the Segal Cancer Centre at the JGH, but the University of Quebec Hospital Centre Foundation and the Trois-Rivières Regional Hospital Centre Foundation.
