Six in a row! JGH named a top employer again this year

For the sixth year in a row, the Jewish General Hospital has been singled out as one of Montreal’s top employers, in recognition of the support and leadership it provides to members of staff.

Organized by Mediacorp, Montreal’s Top Employers is a competition that shines the spotlight on employers in the greater Montreal area who are leaders in their fields in developing and maintaining exceptional places to work.

To be recognized as one of Montreal’s top employers, the JGH had to distinguish itself through eight key factors:

  • physical workplace
  • work and social atmosphere
  • health, financial and family benefits
  • vacation and time off
  • employee communications
  • performance management
  • training and skills development
  • community involvement

Employers in Montreal are evaluated by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers using the same eight criteria as the national competition.

“Once again, it is a great honour to receive this award and to be recognized among Montreal’s best employers,” says Dr. Lawrence Rosenberg, President and CEO of the CIUSSS.

“The Jewish General Hospital is more than a workplace: It creates opportunities for long-term careers, where the major stages of an employee’s life are acknowledged, whether in the birth of a child or in retirement.

“By supporting our employees throughout their careers and during the pivotal moments of their lives, we are also ensuring our ability to recruit highly qualified candidates and to retain the most talented and dedicated employees.”

“On a daily basis, we make every effort to recognize the outstanding performance of our employees and managers, including by awarding the Nursing Award of Excellence, offering a career planning program or supporting employees in school or wishing to return to school,” says Beverly Kravitz, Director of Human Resources, Communications, Legal Affairs and Global Security for CIUSSS West-Central Montreal.

“We are especially pleased to see that the support that we give to our new mothers and fathers has been recognized by Mediacorp. In addition to the maternity leave to which staff are entitled, we make additional payments for parental leave to new fathers and adoptive parents.

“We are fully aware that the corporate culture and the quality of work life have a direct impact on our employees and, through them, the care of our patients.”
