Music soared across the grounds and through the corridors of the JGH again this June, as the JGH Jazz Festival celebrated its gala 20th year of entertaining patients, visitors and staff.

Lunch-hour audiences relaxed in the picnic area of the JGH, as the 19th JGH Jazz Festival focused on music of the world, with 20 acts playing everything from surf rock to African pop.

The JGH Jazz Festival returned in June for its 18th melodious edition, featuring a week of lunch-hour performances by members of hospital staff and guest musicians.

Amid soaring rhythms and layered harmonies, a bittersweet note crept into the most recent edition of the JGH Jazz Festival: It was the final production before the retirement of Bryan Highbloom as the hospital’s Music Therapist and festival organizer.

As the weather heated up in June, so did the lunch-hour atmosphere at the JGH Jazz Festival, which returned for its 16th year of free outdoor concerts for patients, visitors and staff.

Jazz, rock, folk, electronic, avant-garde and world music were performed by a wide array of artists, including members of JGH staff, daily for two weeks.
