Take 5! JGH named a top employer for fifth straight year

For the fifth year in a row, the JGH has been named one of Montreal’s top employers, demonstrating the hospital’s dedication to the care of its patients by standing behind the members of staff who make that care possible.

The annual competition, organized by Mediacorp, is part of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, which recognizes the leading companies across the country that offer great places to work.

“We are delighted, yet again, to receive this prestigious award for the JGH,” said Beverly Kravitz, Director of Human Resources, Communications and Legal Affairs for CIUSSS West-Central Montreal, which includes the JGH.

“We recognize that an outstanding workplace plays a positive role in the quality of how care is delivered,” Ms. Kravitz said. “That is why we are continuously working to provide a supportive, engaging and innovative environment that offers employees the possibility of growing and learning.”

Jury members based their evaluation on eight key criteria: physical workplace; work atmosphere; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communication; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

As a McGill University teaching hospital and a leader in the healthcare sector, the JGH has been recognized for maintaining rigorous recruitment standards: It seeks the most promising talent in the best academic institutions, summer programs and paid internship. In addition, it emphasizes the training and development of employees, and provides help in retirement planning.

Dr. Lawrence Rosenberg, President and CEO of the CIUSSS, echoed Ms. Kravitz’s sentiments, noting that it is “a great honour for the JGH to be recognized, since this is a direct reflection of the commitment of everyone on staff to improving the healthcare experiences of patients.

“By striving to ensure that employees are satisfied with their work environment, we enable them to do their best on behalf of those who rely on them. It is a goal that we also continue to pursue for all members of staff in our CIUSSS and, consequently, for all users of health care and social services in this network.”

Ms. Kravitz added, “The JGH is continuously working to meet the needs of our work force and enhancing the work environment. This is paramount in recruiting and retaining some incredibly talented and dedicated employees who choose to work at our hospital. For 2018, our goal is to have CIUSSS West-Central Montreal and all of its sites be recognized as a top employer.”
